Here are some photos and information about Brian's mission in the Brazil
Salvador South Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
from November 2000 to November 2002.
He last area of service was the city of Ilhéus, an oceanside city just south of
Salvador, in the province of Bahia in northern Brazil. He
served as a zone leader since March - this
was the second zone he has been called to lead. He
has working very hard,
trying to teach the people and to help them as individuals to
improve their lives. He has also tried to help the church grow - the ward in
Ilhéus where he served most recently, is close to
being large enough to split into two wards.
Dave felt blessed for the opportunity to visit
Brian for his last week in Brazil as he flew down there to give a lecture at
the University of Sao Paulo Dental School. The professor who invited Dave, Dr.
Sergio Ourique of the University of Sao Paulo, turned out to be very interested
in the gospel, and teaching him about the restored Church of Jesus Christ was a
spiritually exhilarating experience. We treasure the friendship we developed
there.

Here is Brian with his mission president and mission "mother", Pres. and Sister
Carboni, January 23, 2001, the day he arrived in Salvador.

Brian is the son of David Hall.
He has just completed a two-year leave of absence from his studies to serve a mission for
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil.
His missionary service began November 22, 2000, with a
two-month intensive language
training program in Sao Paulo, Brazil, after which he
spent two years in
missionary work in the Brazil Salvador South mission.
He has taken four years of early-morning seminary classes to learn more about
the gospel, and to help prepare for his mission. |

Here is Brian and his companion, Elder Dahl, with the first family he baptized in
Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil: Marcos, Maria, and their three children. They are planning
to go to the temple to be sealed in February 2002. |

This is part of downtown Salvador, Brazil. Brian was serving in this very
neighborhood of Salvador during June through September 2001. The lighthouse is called the
Da Barra Lighthouse. There is a popular recreational beach just to the north, but the
missionaries never go to beaches. |
