Barbara and Dave went to the Nauvoo Temple open house. Here Barbara is posed in front of the temple. It gives you a majestic feeling, just to be on the Nauvoo Temple grounds.

This is the youth choir that participated in the preliminary ceremonies of the dedication. Spencer was privileged to be able to sing with that choir.

This is the Bonneville Communications truck that was the uplink for the satellite connection - the dedicatory sessions of the temple were broadcast to 72 countries.

In July, the youth from our branch went down to the Nauvoo Temple for baptisms for the dead.

Dave coached little league again - here's his team, the YMCA Marlins. He's on the left. Spencer is in the back in the middle with his uniform on. This was our traditional end-of-season cake-and-soda party.

In July, both Spencer and Jared got to participate in the 5-stake youth conference in Oskaloosa. Here they are the day we picked them up.

Carey and Debee Gold treated us with a visit in August. We delayed Jared's birthday party so they could participate. Here are Haley, Hannah, Uncle Jared, Jaron, and Braxton posing with Chuck E. Cheese.

Here's the beginning of our Minnesota vacation photos. This is the view from the front porch of the cabin we rented - an absolutely gorgeous, peaceful location, smack on the shore of Lake Superior, where we could hear the surf all night long.

This is looking straight down from our front porch at some visiting geese and ducks. You feel very close to nature up in northern Minnesota.

One of the first things we did was take our boat out for a spin on Lake Superior. Here is Jared enjoying himself.

Here is Spencer on the boat. Just to the left, in the background, you can see Five Mile Rock. This island in Lake Superior is five miles from Grand Marais. You can see the seagulls that inhabit the island.

One gorgeous evening, we took our grill on the boat and cooked our previous day's catch sitting on the boat. It was so calm, we didn't even need an anchor to stay put.

We had a belated birthday celebration for Spencer. We invited Steve Pokorny to join us. We met him the day before as he, in a true Good Samaritan spirit, stopped to help us fix our boat when the starter went out. He wouldn't take any money, so we invited him to dinner.
